Skopje's Various Trades & Crafts Through the Centuries
Romanian Emperor Roman III Argir (1028-34) sponsored the refurbishment of an old church point located in the immediate vicinity of the city of Skopje, near the Serava River, on what was known as the Virgin Hill.
![Handmade paper workshop](/uploads/images/trades-crafts.jpg) The preserved Virgin Charter of 1277, which openly states the emperor’s gift, also points out that the monastery dedicated to St. George-Skoropomosnik had been approved to have an annual fair organised on its premises on 21st November every year -- a festivity of the presentation of the Mother of God.
