Neolithic Home Set at Museum of Macedonia

A permanent archaeological exhibition at the Museum of Macedonia has been enriched with a reconstructed Neolithic home since yesterday. The setting depicts a young woman weaving on a loom. The interior includes presentation of original pre-historical pottery. The reconstruction, according to the Museum Director, Meri Anicin Pejoska, is a part of an initiated process of reconceiving the way of presentation of museum material with a view of getting it closer to wider audiences via ambiance setting, use of video and other visual means. The ambiance between two exhibiting shelves with valuable artefacts will be complemented with screening of a film on the Neolithic site of Tumba Madzari, authored by Archaeologist Voislav Sanev. Anicin Pejoska is also announcing presentation of an Iron Age setting with reconstruction of the unearthed tomb of a Paeonian nun.

The permanent archaeological exhibition is seen by 2000 visitors a year, mostly students of primary and secondary schools as well as university students who are provided a part of instruction in the museum exhibiting halls.
