Rusali dance
Early in the 18th century, dancing groups (Rusali) gathered in the centre of Gevgelija from Christmas till the Twelfth Night, dancing the traditional "rusali" dance following the sounds of the drums and sorrels. Selected dancers, aged 20-40, dressed in the traditional "rusali" clothes and demonstrated their knighthood through dance. Even today, a folklore group, within the cultural artistic association, nurtures and develops the Macedonian folklore and customs, by performing the “Rusali” dance, which reflects the historical past and the rich cultural heritage and tradition of the Macedonian people.
